Organization is a social structure comprising of people and resources with the purpose of achieving a unified goal. There is predetermined set of rules and policies that bind the organization and separates it from the rest of the environment. It is derived from the Greek word that means tool. The study of organizations is known as organizational studies or organizational behavior.

In social terms, an organization is a planned and structured action of a group of human beings to construct a final product or provide a service. The organization is defined by the components that are a part of the whole structure, their inter-communication and the interaction with the outside world by the set of rules and policies. There are a few organizational structures followed today by most organizations, the most popular being the pyramid or hierarchical structure. There are other efficient structures like committee structure or the matrix organizations, which are also implemented widely.
