Astronomy is the study of celestial objects and every phenomenon that exists outside the realm of earth’s atmosphere. It is a mixture of the basic study of physics, chemistry, meteorology, and mathematics and uses the concept of formation and development of the universe. It is one of the oldest branches of science known to man, and with the invention of telescope, the study of astronomy has advanced a lot.

Astronomy is currently the envelope of a few disciplines such as the celestial navigation, calendar making, astrometry, astrology, observational astronomy and many more. But the main branch of astronomy remains the subject of astrophysics. In general, astronomy studies the chemical and physical properties of objects outside the earth’s atmosphere while astrophysics is more interested in the physical and dynamic properties of celestial bodies in movement outside the earth’s system. Hence, astronomy must not be confused with astrophysics. Astronomy has certain advanced methods for better study results like: Radio astronomy, infrared astronomy, ultraviolet astronomy and many more.
