Middle East the region that spans between southwestern Asia and northeastern Africa is commonly known as the Middle East. Having no discreet boundaries and often been synonymously used as Near East as opposed to Far East.

It was popularized in the United Kingdom in and around the 1900s. Middle East has always been the center of all the major world’s activities and its history dates back to ancient times The Middle East has been a cradle of many civilizations and saw the birth of three major religions namely Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Characterized by hot and dry climate, agriculture still forms the support of the economy with the help of major rivers helping in irrigation. The area around Persian Gulf is known to have abundance of crude oil. The Middle East has been criticized as being Eurocentrism because of large population of Europeans who were known to inhabit this area in the past.
