Family is a group of people or animals living together bonded by brotherhood, love and consanguinity is called a family. Earlier consanguinity denoted the relationships of blood but over the years it emerged to mean a lot different. Societies now tend to understand family as a living bond between people rather by their blood relations.

A family is where children are reproduced and brought up socially and biologically.It plays a major role in the upbringing of the children pertaining to the social norms and regulations of the society. It inculcates within them the culture and the rationality required in the human beings. The other important function is to bind together people for a productive household.  According to the number of persons living in the family it has been categorized as nuclear and conjugal, whereas the former being the most common type.  A family consisting of parents and children who are unmarried is termed as conjugal
